What if we told you you’ve been doing healthy wrong all this while? Let us explain.
What comes to mind when we say sugary foods? Chocolates, cakes, candies, ice cream, soda, are the popular answers, ain’t we right? Great, you’ve got this right.
Now let’s talk about those hidden sugars that we do not consider while planning our healthy diets. Knowing which foods have hidden sugars is a great way to stay on top of your healthy diet chart. But before that, let’s answer a basic question-
How much sugar does the body really need?
Answer: Your total consumption of sugar should be less than 10% of your total intake throughout the day. This is basically 50gm of sugar (assuming you’re eating 2100 calories) You can exceed this limit by up to 5% if needed.
Now let’s come to the hidden sugars part. Here’s how much sugar some of our “healthy foods” have-
1 tbsp = 5gm sugar
Per serving = 7gm
1 = 94gm (the ones that you buy; it’d be healthier to make these at home with fruits and veggies)
1 pink = 20gm
1 325ml bottle = 20gm
It’s great that you’re on a fitness journey, but make sure that you use your sugar wisely. Opt for natural fruits and foods, and read nutrition labels carefully before consuming your food.
